PRISMA Sail to the Symphony June 21

On Saturday fifteen Club members took cars, a ferry, and charter buses to Powell River to enjoy a magnificent concert put on by the Prisma Symphony Orchestra. Every June about 85 music students from all over the world gather in Powell River to hone their craft and create wonderful music together. Under the tutelage of Maestro Arthur Arnold they provide two weeks of concerts in a variety of venues, and with a variety of musical styles. The afternoon concert provided a dramatic exposure to Gustav Mahler’s Symphony #6, beautifully blended with his melancholy Kindertotenlieder (Songs on the Death of Children).

The concert was preceded by a buffet lunch. The ferry trip to Powell River was cool and cloudy, but the sun came out for the return trip, and we were accompanied by a humpback or two. We are already planning our trip for 2026!
