Book Club 2nd Edition
Although Teddy didn’t read the book (Malcolm Gladwell’s “The Revenge of the Tipping Point”) he joyfully welcomed everyone at today’s meeting. Our book club reads a mix of fiction and non-fiction, and this was our first non-fiction in 2025. We last read Malcolm Gladwell in 2020 (“Talking to Strangers“).
At 61 years old, Gladwell is a Canadian journalist, author and public speaker, who has been a staff writer for The New Yorker since 1996. He holds an Order of Canada (2011) and is a bestselling author of “narrative non-fiction” that examines the intersection of science and culture.
We started our meeting with a short You Tube PBS video of author Walter Isaacson interviewing Gladwell about writing this book. Our following discussion covered many examples of tipping points and ways to research/explore/understand & predict how small cultural or behavioural changes can escalate (or be deliberately manipulated ) to cause major societal impacts. Not exactly light summer reading…but members generally felt positive about the book.
