Wine 101, Beginners, name TBC

On Wednesday,  May 7th, 10 members of the Beginners Wine Tasting Group met at the home of Doug & Jeri M. The theme for the evening was Old World vs. New World wines. After a brief review of Tasting Techniques,  the group sat down to the serious work of seeing, sniffing and sipping.  Three wines were sampled in a ‘blind tasting ‘ format.
Notes and comments were in no short supply as the evening progressed.  Delicious appetizers supplied by the group were abundant and more wine was sampled!!
Wrapping up the procedures, the group voted for which wine was Old World, which was New World and what was that 3rd wine??
Next came the ‘best in show’.  The unanimous vote went to Wine ‘B’ (as the wines were labelled A,B,C), Doug’s homemade vintage coming in first at the astounding price of
$6.00 a bottle.   In the words of Heather, that was the pièce de résistance!!!  A good laugh was had by all!!
Thank you to the group for making the evening an absolutely fun event.  Many thanks to Brian Steane, for coming out to make sure we started off on the right foot!!
