Les Wineaux and Friends at The Truffle Farm

On Friday, January 16th, 33 Les Wineaux members, along with guests from the other Probus wine clubs, enjoyed an evening of great wine and food at the Truffle Farm in Parksville. Our guest speaker was Bill Eggert, a legendary Okanagan wine maker. He brought a selection of wines he acquired when he purchased Hidden Chapel Winery, along with some of his own wines, for the tasting. One of the crowd favorites was “The Bear” from Fairview Cellars, which he used to own. Each of the five wines was accompanied by a small bite created especially for us by chef Nick. We started the evening with a glass of sparkling wine served from the “champagne wall”. We were then welcomed to the farm by the owners, Virginia and Peter, who also introduced chef Nick. Bill followed with a brief talk about his background in the wine industry and introduced each wine as it was served. It was a very special event, thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance.
