Vintage Vinos in February

The Special Interest Group formerly know as LES PETIT WINEAUX has been rebranded as the VINTAGE VINOS.

The first meeting of the re-named group was held 12 February at the home of Linda and Bill H, with 12 members in attendance.

Members were greeted with a pre-Valentine’s Day theme; the table artfully decorated  with hearts, candles and clusters of red and white roses.

The wine category selected was SPARKLING WINES with an example selected from each of Italy, Spain and France.

Don G gave an excellent in-depth presentation of the history of each, the process of fermentation which achieves the carbon dioxide bubbles and the bottling, age requirements etc of each.

Wines presented and tasted were Valdo Valdobbianene Prosecco Superior (Italy), Maria Cava Genui Brut Nature (Spain) and Forget-Brimont Brut Premier Cru (France).

Following the initial information and tasting session, a wonderful variety of appetizers selected to pair with sparkling wines was enjoyed. The group then re-assessed observations of the wines when paired.

The evening concluded with extended discussions about the wines, appies, dessert, the name change and with opinions offered on many local and world problems.

Organizers and hosts were gracious in accepting the well deserved accolades offered.

Members look forward to the next presentation.
