Kayaking
We had our first Probus kayak trip on May 14. Three single kayaks and one tandem kayak carried five Probus members to the Winchelsea Islands. We went in the early evening and seas were calm. We encountered a group of sea lions in the shallows next to South Winchelsea Island, which is owned by the Land Conservancy of BC. Three followed (stalked?) us back to the Schooner Cove Marina. Sea lions are curious but this was very unusual.
Upcoming trips to other local islands are planned, as well as a trip to the Dinghy Dock restaurant on Protection Island in Nanaimo. Stay tuned for details.
