Wee Drammers Close Out Year Three

It’s been a good three years! 76 Different Drams and 40+ Distilleries, so far! And we have at least 100 Distilleries left! That’s only Scotland!!

Drams 75 and 76 were presented to 9 members of the group, along with one guest, at the home of Tony R. on Feb 20. This time, we stayed in the Highlands, sampling a wonderful 15 yr. old Dalwhinnie coming from the “highest distillery in Scotland, set in the wind swept Grampian mountains with their unlimited supply of fresh spring water…” and a equally pleasing 14 yr. old Oban. an award winning , complex dram with “flavours of rich fruits, smoky dryness, honeyed spice, and a whiff of sea salt …”A great, full-bodied Highland malt.

Accompany the whiskys, Tony presented an array of appetizers – sausage, cold meats and cheeses, smoked salmon, smoked oysters, veggies and dip and, a sampling of great dark chocolate infused with sea salt.

To top off the evening, we were treated to a wonderful local product – Krupnik Honey Liquor produced by Wayward Distillery in Comox courtesy of our guest (and Bob’s son) Rob. Wayward is Canada’s first distillery to produce spirits using 100% BC honey.

Thanks to Tony for a great job! Our next tasting will be held in March and will be hosted by Bill H.
