Saturna Island-Sage Hayward Winery Trip

On July 21st twelve adventurous Probus members travelled to Mill Bay Marina to catch a water taxi to Saturna Island. The sea was a bit choppy but the weather cooperated and the boat ride took us past Salt Spring Island, and between Mayne and Pender Islands. Participants had time to get acquainted with one another and take in the view. After a short walk up a country road we arrived at the very picturesque Sage Hayward Winery. The restaurant/tasting room looks over well maintained vines to the sea in the distance. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. One of the owners presented us with six wines to taste, accompanied by charcuterie boards. Following the tasting we were able to choose one of the wines to have with a choice of one item from their delicious lunch menu. Before leaving we took the opportunity to purchase wine, the Rose being the most popular. Our return boat ride was smooth, providing an opportunity for participants to chat about the day. A successful trip enjoyed by all.
