Our first Rusted Rake Brewery Luncheon was well attended by 26 members. The back porch was toasty warm, draped in a weatherproof clear plastic, and heated by overhead heaters. There were blankets for all but not needed. The service was very efficient and everyone seemed to enjoy their food and beverage choices. Perhaps next time our group could sit at tables for six or eight so we could better visit with each other.
We had a special surprise birthday announced after lunch! Jim Watson turned 85 years young on the day and was presented with a birthday card from the ‘Probus Gang’ . Friends ordered him the Nanaimo Bar cake with a candle and we all sang ‘Happy Birthday’. We also shared his big box of chocolates around the very long table! It was a lovely way to spend a good part of the afternoon with friends so close to home. We may have to make this a regular event.
