32 Les Wineaux members enjoyed a wine-pairing dinner at the Fairwinds Golf Course on Saturday, March 23, featuring wines from Roche Wines. The winery is in the Okanagan, but the owners have a long history of wine making in France. The evening started with Prosecco and a small appetizer as we mingled. We were then seated for a 5-course dinner, each course with a separate wine.
Two particularly outstanding pairings were the Gamay 2022 with the Beef Tartare and the Chateau 2018 (a full-bodied red blend) with the Duck a L’orange. We capped the meal with a delicious chocolate mousse. Many thanks to Ron Commander for stepping in and reading the tasting notes when the sommelier was unable to attend due to illness. Special thanks also to Sean Wiens and his team for preparing and serving a great meal.
