Our July 14th Summer Luncheon & Hat Party was definitely a ‘returning to normal’ social event done in grand style on a grand summer’s day!
The elegant Craig Bay Conservatory was a fitting setting for the eye-catching displays of tapas food, an abundance of fresh garden-cut flowers and an array of lovely summer outfits and fancy hats.
As members began to arrive at noon there was an excitement in the air that remained throughout the afternoon. Everyone was beyond happy to see each other and visit between sips and bites at a table or on the veranda until 3pm! We had 68 members & 2 guests enjoy the luncheon catered by Lisa of Masters Touch. Both the front veranda and ballroom were at capacity, allowing for the required extra space taken up by the more exuberant hats.
Though there were many, many contenders the five hat winners were chosen through member ballots and they were: Maggie Carter, Tony Ransom, Ethel Vincent-Lambert, Garnet Hunt, Heather Utley & Doree Kustra.
The social committee would like to send out our heartfelt “Thank You” to Carol-Anne & Bob Faulkner who graciously agreed to ‘host’ our club at their clubhouse and also volunteered their time, both beforehand and on the day. Special mention and thanks also go out to our member volunteers for helping make this event a success both in front and behind the scenes: Anne Williams, Heather Utley, Penny Shantz, Sharon Vincent, Bob Nelson, Linda & John Tosney, and Patrick Murray.
