Brief Biography: Sharon Jackson
Arriving in Nanoose Bay from: South Surrey (Crescent Park)
Previous Occupation(s): Manager – HR, Liaison and Operational Support, for a Charitable Organization providing support and pro-social programs for at-risk youth. Formerly provided leadership and administrative support for the Safe Schools department of the Surrey School District and also enjoyed a short, but rewarding post, with the Nanaimo RCMP Serious Crime Unit.
Special Interests: Art, interior décor and design, gardening, crafts, cake decorating and baking, fitness (walking, hiking, cycling, paddleboarding, yoga), reading, travelling and playing board games.
Background: Once an islander, always an islander! After growing up in the Caribbean on the beautiful island of Jamaica, then working and raising two busy boys in the hub bub of the Lower Mainland, a return to island life and the quiet and slower pace of Vancouver Island and Nanoose Bay seemed like a natural transition. Our timing was perfect! September 2019, my husband Don (newly retired) and I started our new life adventure here in beautiful Fairwinds. We had just enough time to settle in and meet a few of our new neighbours, before Covid turned the world upside down. Being both quiet in nature and a nature lover at heart, I enjoyed this time getting to know my new garden, home and community. Fast forward a few years and I am now enjoying semi-retirement and a quick commute across the hall to my home office. I look forward to more time for gardening, travel, hobbies and social activities.
Brief Biography: Don Jackson
Arriving in Nanoose Bay from: South Surrey, BC (Crescent Park)
Previous Occupation(s): Certified Electrician (semi-retired)
Special Interests: Cycling, walking, gardening, golfing, travelling, motor cross, fishing, cribbage, board and card games.
Background: I grew up in Coquitlam, BC and lived in Langley and Surrey before retiring to beautiful Vancouver Island and Nanoose Bay with my wife Sharon. I am a certified electrician and after many years in the trade, am enjoying retirement. Not having to get up at the crack of dawn and fight my way through crazy traffic (and even crazier drivers) to get to the jobsite is a bonus! I enjoy puttering around the yard, doing small renovations, electrical work and tackling the long `honey do-list`at my leisure. I look forward to exploring more of the island with my wife, travelling, sleeping-in and participating in social activities.
