Book Club Second Edition

Relaxing at book club

We beat the heat and took our garden meeting inside to discuss “The Art of Resistance,” a memoir by Dr. Justus Rosenberg.  While a young, 18 year old student at the Sorbonne in Paris when WW2 broke out in 1939,  Rosenberg fled the Nazi invasion by heading south and eventually joining the French resistance in Marseille.  Written by the author at the age of 97 (!)  and published in 2021, the book was an inspiring story of a life well-lived, against all odds.   Rosenberg’s memoir ends with the warning, “We need to champion the notion that all human beings are equal and deserve to be treated as such.  We need to be alert to the dangers and nip them in the bud.”  We were joined by a very well-behaved special guest, Ann L’s Kayla, who quietly snoozed through all the chatting and snacking.
