Book Club 2nd Edition

We met at Anne’s on October 26th to discuss “Hidden Valley Road: inside the mind of an American family” by Robert Kolker.  Don and Mimi Galvin outwardly appear to be living the American dream, working hard and raising their family of 12 children who were born between the years of 1945 and 1965.  In truth, their family has hidden episodes of violence, mental breakdowns and physical abuse.  Six of their sons are diagnosed with Schizophrenia and the book describes how they and their family members are affected and continue to be affected up until 2017.  It’s a well-researched book which inspired a very interesting and informative discussion.
