Bear Alert in Fairwinds

In the last week many of our members have reported numerous bear sightings in Fairwinds and Nanoose Bay.  Our Nanoose bears are just this year coming closer and closer to our homes…and then they teach their cubs… bears living amongst us will become a culture within our resident bears population and will span over generations like in many urban areas in BC: the North Shore, Tri-cities and in Whistler etc.   For Bear Smart Tips read here.  Nanoose was doing well until its great expansion with the arrival of all our garbage and compost bins.  PLEASE be mindful of keeping your garbage/compost locked-up out of reach of wildlife.
