Dr. Richard Beamish: A Pacific Salmon Emergency

21 devices zoomed in for a remarkable presentation by distinguished scientist and Nobel Laureate Dr. Beamish.  Long term data show catastrophic declines in west coast salmon stock, despite best efforts by many fish hatcheries to replenish populations.  What is happening to the juveniles once released into the ocean?  Why are so few surviving to adulthood?  And what biological attributes distinguish the juveniles that do make it to adulthood?  Dr. Beamish took us through these and other questions to arrive at a novel, startling insight.  His soon-to-be-published research will have lasting impact on managing the west coast salmon fishery; a future link to be provided here.
