Guest Speaker:
Bill Hamilton introduced our guest speaker Alan Sinclair who is a Fisheries Scientist. He presented a very informative and interesting talk about his years in the scientific field with the Department of Fisheries and the use of science in the management of the fishing industry. He touched on topics related to the enactment of the 200 mile coastal fishing limit, the collapse of Atlantic Cod in the 1990’s and the conservation aspects of marine life and his current specialty – endangered species. He explained the workings of COSEWIC and SARA (species at risk act). Several questions were asked about the salmon fishing and the Enos Lake Stickleback (a fish he noted that according to research was no longer in Enos Lake). The membership were very much enlightened and appreciative of this presentation.
